Sheether's Reviews!. |
Alright so, I was a Windows user for MANY years, my first Windows PC was a Windows 95 desktop, I've torn apart, put back together and built from the ground up starting with an empty tower in many different instances, I've dealt with viruses, trojans, corruptions and times when the blue screen went green (monitor literally crapped out the instant the blue screen popped it's ugly head only to be a green screen) yes the two are completely separate issues I just though the experience was funny.
For the most part I enjoyed my time using Windows, games, movies, web surfing and so on. As of now and of the last 2 years.... I've gotten away from Windows, I don't like Windows, I wouldn't advise others to use Windows and can rant but won't, I've got my reasons. I would like to note for anyone that may take that statement personal, I do not consider people who do use Windows as being stupid or otherwise, if you use and like Windows then cool, I just don't.

I've used IOS way back when it came out, for what it was at the time it was amazing considering there were no real contenders to show any better, now days it's evolved to a really decent OS and while I personally prefer Android over IOS I would suggest IOS to new comers and standard user alike who just want something that just works and won't break down probably till the hardware dies as long as said person treats the device with care.
I am a fan of android as an OS but not necessarily the forced applications or forced restrictions (input random retailer here) shipped out with the devices, it can do so much for being on a mobile device, want to download files off the net? no problem, want to download torrents? no problem, want to download videos from HTML 5 and Flash sources? no problem, want to give your laptop PC access to it's mobile connection? there are some steps if you want free but for the majority again no problem.
VLC, Skype, Twitter, Facebook, Website editors, Video editors, Image Editors, Games of all genres? all available. Want to install a desktop OS in replace or in some circumstances along side the Android OS?, well there might be some complicated steps and in a lot of cases the actual devices supported are few and far between but if you know what your looking for then it's still possible. For Android in and of it's self I enjoy the OS. I have been playing ESO for a solid 3-4 months, I have a level 250+ CP Argonian Templar that I've had a blast playing, Skills I regularly use are Reflective Light, Ritual of Retribution, Breath of Life,
Radiant Aura, Rapid Regeneration, Endless Hail, Poison Injection and Radiant Destruction. One thing I was seriously hating was that regular mobs through out the ESO world had movement speed reduction attacks/skills in pretty much every single mob area and that annoyed me to no end, trying to gather x-amount of ads into mobs and them slowing your movement speed is just garbage to me, I know it sounds like I'm nit picking something but when your spending hours and hours trying to level through mobbing then something like this can get to me. ESO has recently come out with their Homestead update, while this was welcomed by a great many players there are a great more that I've come across and have seen posting in Zone/Guild alike and I too am disappointed with the fact that they did not include a storage space system with the homes, that to me made the homes pointless, while I'm not saying it's pointless to everyone it was none the less to me. One other thing that I did not get was the fact that they didn't make a straight forward increase while leveling, as I leveled I saw my stats slowly grow yes but I felt like the over all stats once hitting level 50 seemed to reduce, yes I am aware of the gear level effect where your stats reduce while having lower level gear than your character but I kept swapping gear as I picked it up so my gear was at lowest 45 the moment I hit 50 and within a 30 minute span was all updated to level 50, I will admit at that moment I wasn't sporting a 5 piece bonus outside of the player made gear "Julionos" but none the less, my HP, Magicka, Stam, Wpn Dmg, Mag Regen, HP Regen and the list goes on was sorely reduced and the over all effectiveness of my character in battle was noticeably lowered, I am not a fan of this style of leveling system by any means. Beyond those few issues I have fun and still play. I am in NO way affiliated with Team Four Star or their videos beyond watching them.
Ok so where to begin..., Team Four Star is a crew of (in my opinion) very talented people and have given me so many laughs with their videos. TFS is another one of the few YouTube channels I go to for just laughs and chuckles, their DBZ Abridged and Hellsing Ultimate Abridged series are just hilarious to me, I have watched and re-watched their videos many times over. I find their Abridged series to be funny and entertaining time and time again. I find the voice actors to be spot on regarding their similarity with the actual voice actors of Dragon Ball Z and the comedy they bring from shortened clips of the original show is just awesome. I would have included a "about us" from them but didn't easily find one, if I find one at a later date then I will update this review at such time. So here we go, I use Google Chrome on a daily basis for many of my web needs.
One of my favorite services of Google Chrome is that Chrome it's self keeps you logged in to many (maybe not all) of the sites you sign into such as Facebook, YouTube, Netflix and Hulu to name a few, if it doesn't automatically log you in then it has your log in information pre-typed into their respective fields, with that being said I can only imagine that to be a security risk somewhere down the line in case someone gets your Google account information they would then have other sign in information. Speed wise I have yet to see any other browsers that I have used to boast more than Google Chrome, although to be honest Firefox and Opera seem to load webpages equally fast as Google Chrome on my wifi connection. All in all I am quite satisfied with Google Chrome as I continue to use it even now. Alright, to start off I would like to say that Anime America has brought me many laughs, snickers and chuckles, I love their whimsical Chibi avatars and their great comical/friendly atmosphere generated by their real life love of anime.
This YouTube channel is one of the few I go to when I'm just bored, want a laugh or want to get some laughs from friends and family. I personally don't have anything bad to say about their cast/crew out side of some (personal view here) non-interested videos here and there but all in all I find them funny and entertaining. Please keep in mind that I am NOT affiliated with them in any way other than a viewer of their videos. Here is a copy of their "About" from their FaceBook page. About Anime America is the show for Anime fanatics by Anime Fanatics. We keep you updated on everything from the latest news in anime to reviews and previews. I honestly liked this edition of Ubuntu, Linux Mint is a team of their own that have taken Ubuntu and turned it into what feels like an OS unto it's self with their own update and software center applications, they roll out their own updates separate from the Ubuntu updates to create a very stable system.
In my opinion Linux Mint Cinnamon looks just as sleek as Windows 7 looks if not more so, beyond the edition there is a Mint forum where you can get just about any issue handled quite efficiently in my experience, I know not every problem can be solved in a day but they get close to doing so. They have 4 different editions of Mint including XFCE, MATE, Cinnamon and KDE, while I would like to of seen an LXDE version both XFCE and MATE are great alternatives for older/lower end hardware in regards to speed and smooth operations. I personally enjoy this desktop edition, why? because it works and does so quickly, I will admit the lack-luster interface can get old since there aren't glossy face or sharp edges but in regarding to me it works out nice, I have 8gb ddr3 ram with 2.3gh dual core All in One PC and absolutely nothing lags or locks up and boasts in my case a VERY impressive boot time being literally 20 seconds from being off cold, I've used Lubuntu in the past on much less hardware and again never locks up for my daily use, Web surfing, Image editing, Video recording and TXT file editing, keep in mind I said it's never lagged or locked up for me, individual experience may differ as with ANY other OS and Hardware combinations.
I will also say this, I feel like Lubuntu in and of it's self fills a smaller nich than lets say Windows or even other editions of Ubuntu, I have specific reasons to use this edition of Ubuntu, I wanted to remove distractions from my work space, there aren't flashy animations, no flashy notifications just a solid work space to keep focus on work, I would definitely recommend this edition to others of the same need/want. PS: This is not Windows and while there are many applications that may cater to your needs Ubuntu is by no means a guaranty to everyone, Gimp is a decent free source instead of Photoshop/the list goes on, I have never used Photoshop so I am going by what I have heard on that so if you have used both and disagree then feel free to correct me. |
